Technical skill is great, but...

Great technical skills are only the beginning. From a client’s or co-worker’s perspective, they give you credibility and the chance to build rewarding relationships. But that’s where the benefit often ends. A myopic focus on improving technical skills to improve results is like covering up termite damage with a coat of paint. It may look good and have a veneer of success for a while but unless a holistic approach is taken, disaster can be just around the corner.

For leaders, a broader view and a commitment to change are the keys to success.

How is it done?

Once sufficient rapport and trust is established between the coachee and coach, Dare2XL’s Executive Coaching Programs are structured around clear goals (set with the input of coachee’s employer where appropriate). A program is agreed upon (generally over 3,6 or 12 months on fortnightly basis) and coaching begins.

Coaching typically follows the following process, starting with you articulating your outcome and then committing to change.

What is your outcome?

Your expectations and desired outcomes will have a major impact on the results you achieve. That requires you to answer questions such as:

  • What issues and outcomes do you expect coaching will help you overcome or achieve?
  • What has stopped you from achieving or overcoming these issues in the past?
  • What have those blockages cost you?
  • What do you really want, in all areas of your life?
  • What will you being doing and seeing differently as a result of the coaching?

Are you committed?

In the coaching framework, commitment and accountability determine success. Therefore, your commitment and accountability are non-negotiable. Dare2XL Coaching is about you accessing your inherent and vast resources – it’s your journey and it can be challenging. It’s not a passive process that will be done to you. It’s about you stepping up, welcoming the discomfort that comes with self discovery and embracing the shifts in perspective and behaviourthat serve you and those around you.

The rhythm of coaching

The power in coaching comes from the regular reflection on results and commitment to new action in the context of targeted areas for expansion or improvement.

The 1-2 hour sessions are generally dedicated to:

  • Articulating values, vision and purpose in life
  • Increasing self awareness
  • Developing strategies and skills to bring about desired changes in behaviour and attitude.
  • Recognising, examining and challenging limiting beliefs
  • Establishing goals that align with your values, vision and purpose.
  • Creating action plans to achieve goals while dodging road blocks.

They can also include the teaching of skills, tools and strategies (where necessary) in areas such as:

  • Relationship management (personal and professional)
  • Employee engagement
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Leadership
  • Energy management
  • Mindfulness
  • Effectiveness.
